As everybody knows delinquency is taking the best of our society away. The Educational area has been strongly affected by it, proving somehow the lack of interest the government has. This blog is not made to criticize the government at all, I just want to retell to you about something that intrigued me these days in which students finally started school again.
I notice that many teenagers were carrying some
transparent backpacks with them, something really strange, though. I asked a
couple of them what was the reason for not to be carrying the regular kind of
backpack, and they answered me so sincerely that was to some extend shocking to
me. They told me that they were asked to use these transparent bags because of
a couple of students were carrying some knives, which were used to black mail
some students inside as well as outside the school. I am going to keep the name of the
institution because as a matter of respect for the ones who labor there. Many
of students complained about these frequent problems, but they didn’t do it
openly because they were afraid this people made an attempt against their
lives.
The school had a very good reputation, but when
started applying different things the law asked as accepting students with
overage, expelled from their previous schools, and some other things as part of
“not letting someone without been educated project”, all this was done without
checking their school or personal record, leading the problems they have now. Indeed,
this had students concern about their safety even their parents were asking for
some kind of protection for their sons and daughters. The institution presented
this idea which was accepted by the majority of parents. All this lead the
institution to take some drastic decisions, for the welfare of the same
students. Transparent backpacks, students being checked at the entrance of the
school, frequent police officers visits, a selection method to enter and be a
student from the school, and some other things that guarantee students’ optimum
development.
Some students and even parents were kind of
reluctant to this approach of the problem because they felt privacy is an
aspect that is been affected; they highlight the fact of having a transparent
bag, for gals, is kind of uncomfortable because they need to carry sanitary
products, which now can be seen for everyone becoming into an awkward situation
where they can be easily fool for it. This were some of the reasons or ideas
this teens told me about their discontent, but they also feel as well as the
administrative personal that this is a way they can have more control over the
situation they are facing in the school because if nothing is done, they say,
this problem will increase over and over again making it impossible or perhaps
harder to be solved later.
I consider what the school is doing as a good
way to finally start fighting against delinquency, though. Perhaps is
attempting against some rights students have, I know, but It has a reason to be
done, students safety. We can perfectly see many cases like this of robbery and
black mailing are happening in front of our eyes and all over our country. The
lack of interest or perhaps fear is pulling us back to do something about it.
We must see that the education area is suffering real damages. For that reason,
some of the schools affected are taking their own solutions, expecting the best
of them. Hopefully all this new ideas work, so we finally can stop listening
different news about dead, kidnapped, or robbed kids.
Here I am uploading a video related to this
topic....
Well Ely, as you said in your comments it is so sad how far the delinquency has taken advantage over our society in general. If you realize everybody is living in a "psychotic mode", and for that reason you are all the time waiting to be assaulted by someone...
ResponderEliminarRecently I was reading about the alert emmited by the USA government against our country, and I felt really sad, because El Salvador has a lot of beautiful places to visit, and we are not bad people at all. However, people around the world will know about us only for the negative concept that news can spread about our situation, but any country is free of delinquency.
As mother, I can tell you that I am in agreement with that disposition about transparent backpacks, since that will be part of the solution of violence inside of the schools, the students for sure will think twice before committing a crime or scare the rest of the classmates.
Really Nice your topic Ely!!!! ;)
It is so sad as you say, to see how different people around the world see our country...that's a shame. For that reason we can not grow internationaly; in other words, we're stuck. That is why small but consistent measures must be taken in to consideration if we want at least start living in a safety enviroment, in which anybody is afraid to go outside or be killed..!!!
EliminarWell, I have seen many students using backpacks like that, especially at National Institutes. Delinquency has taken many areas, and it is a shame that education has been taken by these people. Students want to be the very best in their ways even if it implies to fight against other or to kill someone, in the worst of the cases. This measure has been applied very well because it is necessary to prevent all kind of violence. Unfortunately, students want to be accepted even though the social group is a bad one. This rule was applied many years ago because of the same. Your post is really good and interesting as well.
ResponderEliminarHello LG, thanks for your comment.
EliminarIndeed, this measure was taken years ago but just a few institutions applied it. Now, I have seen this measure is taking some power over schools because of the same risk we are facing these days.
The worst thing is that this is not only happening in our country but all over the world, it seems to be like a trend or something, which is even more scary!!
Let's see if we can reduce the delinquency rate, at least from the scholar areas, which are holding the "future of tomorrow"
I am split here!!! one way to be safe on the streets is to own one of this non-fashionals bags... on the other way, everyone can see what you are carrying. The problem is for girls. I can not imagine myself walking with one of these bags and showing my sanitary towels, that is certainly a disadvantage. Interesting topic Ely, as always.
ResponderEliminarRuth,
EliminarI totally understand your point of view, and actually that was one of the things this gals were kind of reluctant to; how to be carrying personal items, now "not so personal" you know what I mean.
Of course, if we analize it, students privacy is affected in many ways.
But let's face it, we wouldn't be relying on these methods if they weren't necessary; besides, what is worth more in this case privacy or safety. Let's see it this way.
I wouldn't like to anyone see my private stuff, but if that would keep me in somehow safe, I would!!.
Dear Ely... I did not know about this topic,(It is something new to me) but when I started to read I became interested, and I could notice the problem. I think, I could be a good idea, and technique to reduce delinquency in our country because we must accept that there are many gang bangers in our schools, especially in Public school. Let me tell you that I am in agreement with that porpuse because we can reduce deaths. However, some students want to maintain their privacy, and it is nice too because it is a right. To sum up, in my opinion, it has more pros than cons...
ResponderEliminarHi Isabel,
EliminarAs you could see, this seems a good idea to be applied in the schools; however, there's still that issue of being breaking students privacy right, which is something against this measure.
The way I see this approach is benefitial, whether this right or broken or not will guarantee students security from those who are willing to do bad things.
Maybe is not a solution, but it's a start.
As everybody knows we are living in a very dangerous environment. In my case I know about this requirement because my brother was studying in a National Institute last year. He was asked to use these transparent backpacks because as you said in your comment some students were carrying knives and other kinds of things that were used in a bad way. Also my brother told that they were carrying some fireworks to use inside the school. In my opinion I can say that I am in agreement with this requirement because it can help to avoid or stop crimes inside the schools.
ResponderEliminarHello connie.
EliminarSometimes desperately times requires desperately requirements.
I believe that students can still enter some stuff inside schools, but somehow it becomes more difficult for them.
When I was in high school some of my classmates use to carry those "pedos rusos" -don't know if you have heard about them-, this are like bags which make a strong noise and stink -so gross-. Indeed, this was funny, I accept it, but now I feel we made teachers job even harder.
Events like those can be avoid with this measures. Can or Can't work, that all depends of the schoolar community.
I'm in favor of transparent backpacks. I think it's a good way to fight delinquency, and I would like to know if Police officers really visit these schools.
ResponderEliminarHi Julito!!..
Eliminarsupposedly they are visiting schools, not every day but they are. I know this is happening in public schools, but What about private ones, are they having the same problems?,how are they facing them?, do you know something about it?
